Funds were received by Discover bank for three CD’s on the same day and on the same time.

First error-One account was opened one day, the other two were opened the next day. Told that they could not go back into system to correct, even though the funds were received in the same wire.

Second error- Received three welcome letters with statement that forms were enclosed to transfer out monthly interest. Those forms were never enclosed.

Third error- Told that because two accounts were opened a day later they would allow withdrawal one day earlier to match the day the first account matured. Told them to send it in writing and they said they do not do those things. On a subsequent call, denied that they said that and that legal department would not allow this. Told them I wanted a letter from legal department, and got the same old line, that it was not allowed. Who do they think they are kidding? They never went to any legal department. All they do is compound their lies.

Fourth error- Titles on two CD’s were incorrect and when called said they would send out forms to be signed in order to correct and it would take 1 to 2 weeks to get. I am not holding my breath to see if these forms will ever come.

What a sloppy way for a bank to do business. I wonder if any of the executives at the bank take the trouble to read any of these comments. It would be nice if one did and tried to clear up this situation.

Again, I am not holding my breath.

This is from A.F. who wrote the above comments. Add to this that in error two, I just received the forms and the names on them were incorrect. I received only two forms, and there was supposed to be three. How incompetent can a bank be?

I opened a Money Market in May of ’09. I have never received checks. After numerous calls I decided to close out the account as I had no access to my money. I received several excuses but never received checks. I received errant advice as to how to close the account. First, I was told that they would close the account. After 10 days I called, they said that they called to tell me I had to write a letter. I have an answering machine and there was no message. I wrote the letter, still no money. I sent a fax and after seven days I still have not received my money. Tomorrow I will contact David Nelms the CEO of Discover Bank.

I too feel that this bank is incredibly slow in getting back to customers. I opened an IRA accoust in August and I am still having difficulty getting the proper documentation on the account as opened. I have no fear that they are in the bank it is just difficult to get correspondence by mail. The rates for this bank are great and the personel seem great, but documentation is frustrating. I deal with several national banks and local banks. Generally I have to make one call to service an account. I have made 17 calls to Discover Bank in a 90 day period to process 2 IRA accounts.

I have opened an account with DiscoverBank, and I have to say they are incredibly slow moving. It took over a week for me to get an account number, and even then the online banking signup was extremely slow as well. In this age of technology, why am I waiting more than a week to have access to my account?????
