Customer Service Representative

MetaBank – Des Moines, IA

Provides basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with financial institution procedures.

[What are the laws governing METABANK and is METABANK following morally ethical practices??? So many people have complained for years now about how they have been treated at METABANK]

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts bank duties in a manner that is complimentary to overall Bank image and objectives and supports the Bank’s commitment to excellence.

Demonstrates customer service by managing difficult or emotional customer service situations, responding promptly to customer needs, soliciting customer feedback for improvement and responding to requests for service and assistance. [Note that METABANK anticipates and really doesn’t care about customer complaints… newly hired employees are taught to expect customers to become emotional….. That is very odd!!!]

Accepts deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, and gives customers receipts.

Cashes checks within limits assigned, or refers customers to an officer for authorization to cash checks

Accepts savings deposits and withdrawals; verifies signatures, posts interest, and balances as necessary. Prepares individual daily settlements of teller cash and proof transactions

May assist with more complex transactions or accept loan, credit card, or similar type payments

Provides support for the company’s sales efforts which include selling and promoting the company services (e.g. – consumer and mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates of deposit, safe deposit boxes, and money orders) as opportunities arise. [METABANK offers corporate gifts that are used to entice clerks, tellers and low level employees to push their product for them. The employee then pushes a faulty product off on their family and friends… sad, really sad.] 

Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds Counts, checks and packages coins and currency [This is where METABANK has consistently scammed customers.]

Balances cash drawer at the end of the shift and compares totaled amounts to computer generated proof sheet.

Reports any discrepancies to the supervisor as necessary.

Ensures station is properly stocked with forms, supplies, etc.

Reports malfunctions of teller terminals and other equipment used at the station Is responsible for checking night depository bags and recording proper information on the financial institution’s forms

Meets sales goals as outlined by supervisor. [What happened then in the case of Pickhinkle??? How did that happen?]

Performs miscellaneous duties such as filing and answering phones.  [Okay, but what position is actually being offered by METABANK? How much employee turn over happens and at what rate?]

Other duties may be assigned. [Such as????]

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. [Who are the supervisors at METABANK and what are required of them? The Bank CD Fraud of 2009 is rather peculiar.]
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED Customer service and/or cash handling experience

[Inspiring others to perform well??? What does this mean?]

Employees must speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations [So METABANK by design creates negative situations… negative situations are expected from the outset….. This is very peculiar.] and continually look for ways to improve and promote quality products and services to our customers. [A Teller who is being given free rein  as to how they will “improve” i.e change customer services being offered…. How are quality products and services to customers defined by METABANK? Customers have repeatedly reported that METABANK has basically used them to get an interest free loan for METABANK… Is this statement just a ploy to set in place a plan where the high school grads or those who have GEDs are set up to do the really dirty business for METABANK’s CEOs to keep making enormously huge annual incomes.]
General sign-off: The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies including but not limited to the Vision, Mission, and Value statements and actively participate in company programs including, but not limited to, Performance Management and Compliance Training. [Compliance Training? for any other bank except METABANK would seem normal, but METABANK is always changing the rules and instructing customer service representatives to lie blatantly and boldly to customers…. the lies were so bold and so obvious that we were left asking why METABANK feels compelled to lie. “General Sign-Off” that seems to be very open ended and in favor of the corporate CEOs so that how employees will be treated will most likely be just as capricious as they way customers are treated by METABANK.]

The employee must comply with all provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act and maintain complete confidentiality with all bank business. [And what is this Bank Secrecy Act? What about honesty and integrity while providing a genuine and quality customer service oriented product?]

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.[Essential duty??? And exactly what will that be?] The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to handle self in a professional manner under stressful circumstances with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.  

[Stressful Circumstances?????  

METABANK then is anticipating that customers will be complaining  about the service/lack of proper service they have received at METABANK/BANK META….

….Studies have shown that “multi-tasking” is less productive that focusing in on a single task… METABANK hasn’t gotten the message yet…..

….”working in a fast paced environment” means that the rules will be changing and that customers will be phoning to complain so the customer representatives will be required to lie…

….This application for employees for METABANK/BANKMETA implies that the kind of employees who are being sought out may possibly be being mislead and not even aware that they will be asked to lie. 

…However, time and time again we have observed that METABANK pushes the blame for their actions off onto others who are more vulnerable…

…This means their customer base or their entry level employees will be blamed so METABANK CEOs can keep doing what they have always been doing

… No where does the request for job applicants ask for people who are honest and who have integrity, and we find that to be rather peculiar.]

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

[That sounds reasonable because it doesn’t say that the employee will be asked to lie to customers on behalf of METABANK CEOs]

Reasoning Ability:
Must have the ability to solve practical problems and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. [Don’t ask questions then about what you are being asked to do…. That is how this looks to us as customers!!]

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. [Standardized situations??? This must mean that customer service representatives are given a specific list of things they can say…. Customers complain about the same problems]
Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be prepared to perform significant portions of their work in a computer based work environment.

They should have experience with: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook [Normal job skills for this time period. The scam has to be initiated at the CEO level then. Stockholders should take notice.]
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. [50 pounds of what?]

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. 
Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. [ This is a very unusual statement on an employee request by a bank…. Makes you wonder why it is here?]
