Customers, Consumers complaints about METABANK have been on-going over a period of years: How do we as consumers get better banking services?

The following are only the complaints made to this blog site alone about how they were treated by METABANK:

Many more blog or websites exist where people have made more complaints about META BANK’S practices and policies.

The more people who hear all of our collective stories, the more likely that something is to get done to actually help the consumer.

Those who will be receiving your letter by US Mail are consumers too, and we are all vulnerable.
The country has gone off on a tangent of party politics. We are distracted from the real issues at hand and these predators are taking advantage of this or they may even be the ones who are promoting this state of chaos and fear in order to distract us from what they are doing and who is the real source of the problem.

Every person who has a problem with Meta Bank or any bank must bring this to the attention of no matter whom is our elected official and demand reforms.

However, Meta Bank has committed a crime against the people of the United States of America and not just one person. Please be diligent and please protect all of us.

Please speak up on behalf of all of us. Most of the people that METABANK scams are the most financially vulnerable citizens.

Former METABANK Customer#1:  upside is not a good card & has very poor customer service, thank u upside i.ll never u pre paid caed again for nothin

Former METABANK Customer#2: I also you a prepaid Visa from Meta Bank and needed to travel for business. I used my Only1 Visa Prepaid Card for a $50.00 hold. I then had to travel back to that same hotel three different times within a two month period. Not only were they holding my money for the inncenditial they also were holding the hotels money. On my last visit to the hotel, the desk clerk mention that the charges are being approved but they haven’t yet been paid. I was so embarrased by this. I am still waiting for money that was held on three different occasions to be release. I take it that they will wait their 60 day maxinum time and then release the money to me. In the meantime, I will write a complaint letter to the US Attorney General’s Office and the Office of Thrift Supervision in Washington, DC as well as the Better Business Bureau. I just didn’t know that this was happening to so many people. What ashame.

Former METABANK Customer#3: META BANK and the ACCOUNT NOW debit card.

I have been a card holder since 2010 and never really had more than a couple hundred dollars in that account. I used it for online purchases. Recently, I accepted a $800 card to card transfer from another Account Now Visa card holder ( a feature that is perfectly legal and promoted by their web site). The fine folks at Account Now/ Meta Bank suspended the senders account as well as the my account. Then they required me to send all sorts of personal information to a nameless person at a remote department within their organization. They required much more information that I needed initially to open this account. It has been a few days now and no one has responded to my calls. When calling, I have waited on hold for 25 minutes only to find out that the department that I need to speak to is not available. They refuse a direct name, number, email or any way to communicate with their RISK department. Meanwhile, they have my funds as well as enough personal information to launch all sorts of accounts in my name.

I feel like I was robbed. I plan to continue attempts to contact them until I can reach a decision maker. Once this matter is resolved, I will recoup my money, close out the account and never look back. This is exactly why people do not trust banks with their money.

METABANK Customer #5 – The Boesen Suicide:

The sad story of former METABANK customer “Boesen” from:

THE DES MOINES REGISTER
MAY 12, 2011 ET
A dispute over the value of four Boesen family partnerships, including Boesen the Florist, has surfaced in the probate of the late Edward Boesen’s estate and could result in litigation, a report filed by the estate’s lawyer says.

James Monroe, who is administering Boesen’s estate, disclosed the dispute but with few details in a status report filed last week in Polk County Probate Court. The report was filed as part of a request to continue estate proceedings beyond the three-year time limit for final settlement.

[ Yes METABANK can engage in protracted litigation and does.]

A hearing on Monroe’s request for extension of the time limit is scheduled May 26. Boesen, a well-known Des Moines businessman, died of an intentional overdose of over-the-counter drugs on July 15, 2008, as his five-state enterprise was beginning to unravel.

Monroe has predicted that Boesen’s creditors will receive very little from the estate because most of Boesen’s businesses were insolvent at the time of his death. Since his death, Boesen’s estate has had more than $60 million in claims filed by creditors demanding repayment. During the hearing, Monroe has said the estate has tried to sell as many assets as possible, but has had great difficulty obtaining much money for them.

[The land and title to those properties would have some money, and METABANK went after everything.]

The valuation of the Boesen partnerships is critical to obtaining a final settlement of the estate. Money obtained from the sale of assets as well as from the value of Boesen’s interest in the family partnerships is to be pooled and then divided among creditors determined to have valid claims against the estate.

Monroe’s report says that the dispute involves the value of four Boesen family limited partnerships – Boesen Family Enterprises LLC, Boesen Land LLC, Boesen the Florist LLC and Beaverdale Investment LLC.

“The other members of said organizations have offered the estate an extremely low figure to buy out the estate’s interests,” the report says. “The estate is currently valuing the various businesses for an acceptable figure; however, litigation may be necessary.

“In addition, the report said Boesen Family Enterprises received $2 million in life insurance following Boesen’s death “and has refused to pay at least one-third of said $2 million to the estate even though the estate owns a one-third interest in said organization.”

[Meta Bank went after all of Mrs. Boesen’s assets. She knew nothing of these loans. Usually insurance isn’t paid when the death is a suicide.]

County property records disclose that  Beaverdale Investment holds title to eight parcels of property mostly in Beaverdale and valued at $724,650.

In addition, Boesen Land holds title to a strip mall at 2629 Beaver Ave that is valued at $1.1 million.

Monroe declined to comment Wednesday.

Bob Douglas, an attorney representing the Boesen partnerships, could not be reached for comment.

Monroe also reported that the estate has settled with Metabank over the sale proceeds of a Las Vegas printing operation in which the bank claimed to have a priority interest.

[Yes, METABANK is only about making a profit off of vulnerable people. Look at METABANK attack this estate!!!!]

Sale price of the company was $282,000, and those proceeds will be split between the estate and Metabank after deducting $10,000 in attorney fees, the report says.

[Attorney’s fees for the Boesen Estate. METABANK’s CEO most likely acts as their in house counsel. This estate process has gone on for years. I pity Boesen’s wife and any children if he had some.]

METABANK CUSTOMER #6

I have a Money Network prepaid Visa which is also Metabank. I havehad it now for a little over 3 years and I used it for everything from paying bills, buying groceries, even making payments to my Capital One Master Card. I also have my Income Tax refunds deposited directly on the card. Last month when I went to load the card it was declined, I figured maybe a computer problem or the company was updating info. I tried again the next day, same thing, declined. I always load my card where I bought it from, 7-11, I never go anywhere else. Last week I tried again, declined so I called Customer Service (Everywherepay.com) explained my problem, the service rep. I spoke with did something on her end and told everything was O.K. but to call back if I still had problems. Tonight I tried loading card again, still declined so immediately called Everywherepay, this time the service rep. told me the reason for not being able to load my card was because they did not renew their contract with 7-11 stores, so I asked where else I could load my card at, I gave her my address and zip code and was very shocked to hear that there was nowhere in my general. She also told me that my debit card was no good anymore even though the exp. date is 04/2013. So now I have to change all my info with my creditors, and find a new debit card company. MetaBank/Everywherepay.com Shame, shame, for shame. You could have at least sent out notices informing us of this situation. “BAD BAD BAD Customer Service practices. Never again will I use anything with the logo “MetaBank or Everywherepay”.

METABANK Customer #6: This is crazy I put money on my card to I spent a couple dollars an now the rest is not there I called an got the same response this needs to stop.

METABANK Customer #7: Hello there! This post could not be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my good old room mate! He always kept chatting about this. I will forward this post to him. Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you. Please encourage your old roommate to send any information that he may have. The truth needs to be spoken.

(This is an awful position to be in. May others learn from what you have written.
Your first task is to get rid of all of your debts. Then start fresh. Resume your education with a fresh chance.

Others, save and avoid getting into debt. Plan far in advance for “Those Rainy Days” when you will need money.)

METABANK Experience #9:

Yes I truly agree both Turbo Tax and Green Dot/ Meta Bank is both a scam.

METABANK Customer #10:

(Please read about Boesen’s Experience with METABANK. METABANK is nothing but a collections agency; the twist is that they have designed a program that keeps customers in a state of economic servitude and feeling rather desperate.)

METABANK Customer #11:

likes “the only fees you pay is a monthly maintenance fee of $4.95.”

(If money was placed into a savings account, the possibility to earn money even with the interest rates as low as they are now. I don’t understand why anyone would be happy to pay some unknown corporate entity $4.95 per month to allow that entity to hold and to control their money. In a years time, that person has paid $59 for someone else to hold their money for them…. If this is legal, then the laws need to be changed… You see the bank charges every place of business each time you pay using a plastic card either as credit or debit…

… Others ( METABANK Customer #12) have told me that many businesses will not accept prepaid bank cards apparently because they have had a very bad experience trying to get their fair amount of money back from METABANK. By the way, METABANK blamed the customer for not using their card properly. Blaming the customer is one of META BANk’s manner of treating their client/customer base.

METABANK Experience #13:

“Someone filed taxes using my name and social security number, They filed using Turbo Tax and had the funds sent to an Meta Bank/Green Dot account, So I called both companies to let them know that I was not the one who filed and yet and still they are all giving me the run around I am extremely upset they will not tell me were the funds went what address were the card was delivered nothing I am very upset and very agitated with this whole situation I just don’t know what to do”

METABANK Customer #14:

“I HATE THIS CREDIT CARD SERVICE NOTHING BUT PROBLEM’S AFTER PROBLEMS. NEXT TIME I GET A PRE PAID CREDIT CARD I WILL CHECK THEM OUT.I WILL NO WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR, THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELFS. IFI WAS MONEY TREE I WOULD NEVER USE THEM I CANT TELL YOU HOW F*%^ UP THEY ARE. WHAT A JOKE NOTHING BUT ONE BIG ASS HEADACHE AND COMPLETE LIES AND HASSLE AFTER HASSLE. THEY BLAME THE MERCHANTS THE PEOPLE AND HOLD NOTHING ON THEMSELFS. THEY SUCK EMPLOYEES SUCK”

“IM GLAD TO SEE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. AND IT ONLY HELPS ALITTLE BUT STILL HELPS TO FEEL LIKE I CAN EXPRESS THE ANGER AND FRUSTATION FROM THIS F%?! UP COMPANY. AT LEAST I AM VENTING AND MAYBE HERD BY SOMEONE WHO WILL READ IT AND GO FAST TO A BETTER CARD SERVICE.IM SO GLAD BEING HERD, EVN THO META BANK COULD CARE LESS. I CAN ONLY SAY KARMA BAD HEADING THERE WAY”

META BANK Customer #15: “(THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY HOSTAGE ) For real !

Yeah I Agree With everyone, I Have the Visa Card, I had no other choice to at the time. So anyways . Heres my Story, ( still not resloved Ongoing ) I Had card when i first started with the company, and i had no problems untill the card expierd, So my money went on there and i couldnt use it nor credit or debit/ or even get money out the atm. I called them up and they said i was supposed to recieve a new card 2 weeks prior to the experation date, I Never got one, so they said they will send one out ( which they did) So then when my money goes on there, i went to use it and its declined ) i called them back up and they said its on hold from further use cuz they need proof of ID 2 IDS so i fax them the info, I called them again and they said it was too dark, so i sent it at the lightest poss setting the place i went to fax it, ok same thing to dark I send it 7 times, all the info Same thing too dark. I keep calling them and i get the same thing send it again. send it again. Im Like no and then they asked to fax a copy of my car regis I was Oh No they are not getttin that ( is this even legal for them to ask for such a doc. ? ) . As Of 02/19/2011 Im still waiting can calling them to get my card off hold > I Didnt need to do this when i signed up why should i send it now…. When i get it resolved, Im Gonna get rid of them……..”

METABANK CUSTOMER #16: “Netspend is really like a scam..if they wanted to make the business bloom up they should care and protect their customers. You cannot even talk to the person’s from META BANK. They should provide customer’s better assistance and assurance that they are in good hands. That’s what Netspend should do!!! even the agents sounds so stupid every time you called in and ask for questions they can’t even talk to you like they know their product it self, all that they could tell you is that “uhmm…can i put you on hold???” what kind of customer service they have. They should train them well and it’s too obvious that the agents are from off-shore. The accent is different. That’s all that i could say.”

METABANK CUSTOMER # 17: “Here is a new addition to the scam. I myself am in banking but for the 3rd largest bank in the world not a hole in the wall such as meta bank. When I go on business I always like to have a prepaid credit card to place down for incidentals on the hotel room or for usage at the lobby bar etc. I do this for the one simple reason protection. I know that if I have a prepaid visa with 500 dollars on it I can’t be over billed. And if I am over billed it is not thousands coming directly off of my debit card or American express. I accept the outlandishly high fees associated with the card simply because I use it infrequently and it is worth not putting my debit card down. SO what they are now doing is this:most hotels will place a 150-200 hold on your credit card up on check in even if the room is prepaid for incidentals movies , food , calls etc. Upon check out they release the hold or deduct any usage. So I checked out of my hotel that I had my meta bank visa prepaid down for the incidentals and I had no bill so hold was released and I went home. Few days later I noticed there is still 150 dollars missing from my online account with meta bank. So I call the hotel they confirm it was released and no hold was in place. So I called meta bank and they told me they will be holding the money for 86 days (don’t ask me why that odd number). When I pushed they said the hotel was holding it. After I barked and let the childish customer service representative know I had already confirmed it was released by them prior to calling she put me on hold. No doubt to get coached on what to say. She came back on and says yes it is meta bank holding the money. She stated all holds whether released by the merchant or not can be held for a duration set by the bank. I asked where was this policy listed as it was not listed in the credit card holder agreement. Which by the way is the law an mandated. So moral of the story is they stated I will have the money back at some point in 2011 and to just fill up with more money for now. I wonder if they realized for 150 dollars they actually tried to screw the one person who can blow the whistle on their illegal policy and procedures. It is going to be fun for a mere 150 to go to court and watch them squirm. O did I mention I have a law degree lol”

Note to others;

It is okay to vent here, but it won’t help to protect others from having the same thing to them that happened to you.

META Bank is “One slick operator” and they need to be stopped on many levels.
They are teaching others their system and Meta Bank tends to close and re-open simply by changing their name.

We need better laws or better law enforcement for this kind of banking practice.

META Bank is ruining banking for all of those honest bankers who have to pay fees because of the way that META Bank operates.

It is in the volume where META Bank makes most of their money. The more people they can scam they more they make in money.

All prepaid cards are produced by META Bank and/or use their system. Avoid using prepaid banking cards.

Yes, it is a characteristic of META Bank to push blame for problems off onto someone else – #1 the customer is usually blamed. #2 the people who sold us their prepaid card #3 your spouse or anyone who tried to help you to correct the situation
META Bank isn’t about to claim responsibility and correct the problem they were actually hoping would happen so they could kick into action how they really, really make money.

META Bank cares nothing about you or your welfare; META Bank is out to make the equivalent of a fast buck.

If we can get in place the right customer protections, META Bank and any other bank operating in a like manner will be put out of business. So META Bank instead of finding a service that is actually a service that will be of real benefit to their customers and instead of using their time to become decent human beings, is pushing and pushing the limits of decency.

Someone must stand up and say enough. We need to protect other people from being treated as we were.

➢     Once META Bank has control of your money, they begin to lie in order to get even fuller use of your money. This is what makes META Bank and any other entity that operates in a similar manner impossible for improving the economic situation in the USA.

➢    META Bank will fight to keep the status quo which is working for them. For the general public, as a customer of META Bank you will be abused. These kinds of practices by banks like META Bank and META Bank, no matter what name they operate under, need to be stopped in order to protect the consumer. By our numbers if we all make the requests to the right people change can happen for the general good of the majority of the citizens of our country and the world. Please contact the OFFICE OF THRIFT SUPERVISION and all of your elected officials.

✤   Change can happen. Begin by making small changes, little steps at a time, but toward a greater goal….. Just don’t allow METABANK to keep scamming the public on such a grand scale as they appear to be doing:

✤   Don’t get another loan to pay off a loan.

➣     Don’t deal with META Bank.
➣     Don’t have money directly deposited into an account for you at META Bank
➣     Bank locally where you can walk in to talk to the branch manager at any time.
➣      Open up a savings account. Pay all bills in cash. Only spend money that you already have.
➣      Don’t allow META Bank to have such great control over all of your money. I personally will never knowingly deal with META Bank again.
➣     The hard part has been that META Bank operates using many different names; they still offer the same service which is no service, but just a scam.
➣     Seriously consider getting a second job, pay off this loan, but don’t get another loan.

✤  Meta Bank doesn’t care about their customers other than to get full control of your money. Meta Bank charges customers to phone them. Meta Bank consistently puts customers on hold and lies to us.

✤    The use of the term “Customer Loyalty” has nothing to do with improving how META Bank intends to serve their customers. This term “customer loyalty” is the term META Bank is using for the gimmicks that they use to lock customers in to their service from which customers find it impossible to get out of. META Bank is and has been nothing but a headache for their customers.

✤  Don’t go to any card system at all!! Open a savings account and pay in cash or just by check with money you already have saved. If you don’t have the money, you can’t buy. Plan ahead and save for what you really want. Be very skeptical of the advertisements that make you think that you need new and fancy things. Go for a walk with friends or plant a garden.

✤ “Putting a customer on hold” is what they have been told to do. They want you to give up trying to deal with them. If you have had any kind of consumer problem with Netspend, a division of META Bank personally, please describe it in writing and submit this to the Office of Thrift Supervision in Washington, DC. and to the US Attorney General’s Office.

➣As consumers, we do not have to remain victims. We can and will do something about this situation.

➣Please do not use products put out by META Bank.

➣Bank locally

➣Get a savings account. Pay with cash as often as possible.

➣Changing the topic and being put on hold like that is reason enough to switch banks. I think that the prepaid card may have had some potential, but that it was so heavily abused by banks like META Bank who then they sent in lobbyists who basically got a form of expanded services which amounted to a form of deregulation where the customers were set up to be abused and misused. The current system sets the customer up to become the economic slave of META Bank, and that is how you were being treated on the phone. Different accent or not, forget that part. Had that person treated you respectfully from META Bank you wouldn’t have cared. I believe if you had been treated with dignity and respect if they had a different accent or not wouldn’t have been a problem. That employee was doing as they had been instructed by their CEO.

✤  A monthly maintenance fee of $4.95 that you must pay while they hold onto your money? That is just crazy!!!

NOTE TO ANYONE WHO MAY BE AN ENTRY LEVEL EMPLOYEE OF META BANK:

Entry #18: ““2010/10/31 at 6:56 PM
I am not sure if there is a real metabank”

The message was from:
Nextcard, Inc. IL 60431 US
Domain Name: METABANK.COM Nextcard, Inc.”

It doesn’t make any sense to me since you work at MetaBank.com which is a subsidiary of Meta Financial what you are saying in your message above, “I am not sure if there is a real metabank.”

Please.
If you are into doing the Meta Bank double talk which we have encountered in dealing with them already ad nauseum, may I suggest that you continue to talk among yourselves at MetaBank where they find that kind of talk acceptable.

This blog is dedicated to straight talk and to getting out clear information so that real solutions can be found.

Too many of us have been disappointed and scammed by MetaBank or whatever name they/you choose to use on any given day to put up with the circular non-productive talk as displayed in this kind of inane comment above.

Customers want:

  • clear information

  • to be treated fairly

  • to be treated with respect

  • to be given full and complete disclosure

  • to have full access to important and all applicable information

  • an end to all game playing by places we seek to do business with.

✤  Quite frankly, the way MetaBank has treated its customers is the way the Mafia might act, I have been told.

Google search the two company names together: Meta Bank and NetSpend
Or just google Meta Bank. Read about Meta Bank in the news. Not real!!! You think???
For those of us who have been dealing with them for quite some time for anyone to say that Meta Bank is not a real problem for American consumers and their customer base is laughable.
Or simply Google “MetaBank October, 2010″ just to see if anything comes up for Meta Bank for that one month.
Google Meta Bank, Boesen
Google Meta Bank, Pickhinkle
Google Meta Bank, CD Scam
Google Meta Bank, Payoneer
Google Meta Bank, Dubai Assassination
Google Meta Bank, Storm Lake Iowa
Google Meta Bank
Since you work for a branch of Meta Bank, you should find out about what kind of company you are working for.

In response to Customer #18:  “Thank you for telling us that DOLLAR GENERAL’s Pre-paid CARD is a META BANK product. And that everywherepay.com is also a MetaBank product.”
“I agree we don’t want to use Meta Bank after our experience with them, but we also want to know when we are dealing with them.METABANK operates using many different names, but doing the same scam.”

“I have read about a similar problem that a grandmother had with a custodial account for her grandchild at Meta Bank. Meta Bank would not let her access the money; they just kept it. Meta Bank’s policies always ends up with the money staying in Meta Bank’s hands. The obstacles for the consumer become ridiculous.”

In response to METABANK CUSTOMER #19:  “am not Meta Bank. I do not work for Meta Bank.
I cannot fix any problem you had or have with Meta Bank. I can’t even endorse Meta Bank. I am telling people not to bank at Meta Bank.
I was scammed by Meta Bank.
I have been researching the practices of Meta Bank.
I am asking for bank reforms that will improve services and the quality of life for all of us.
In the mean time, I am trying to warn people about Meta Bank so they will not have happen to them what happened to me.
Meta Bank lied to me.
When that happened, I began to question their motive.

At this time, my only advice to you, as a friend speaking to another friend, would be for you to get out from any contract you are in with Meta Bank. Get it in writing that you have terminated this contract and any or all obligations. Have Meta Bank put in writing your final balance. Stop banking with Meta Bank. Use only a locally owned and operated bank where you can walk in and speak in person to someone.

So if we can’t get public agencies to help us, then our own actions must begin to help us. Sever your connections with Meta Bank immediately. You must stand up for yourself as best as you can until collectively we can get laws changed or whatever done to stop the predatory practices of Meta Bank and banks like it.”

“Courage!”

“Working together we can get the economic changes that we all need in place to protect us from unscrupulous predatory banks like METABANK.”

Our response to METABANK Customer # 20: “Did you know that Meta Bank charges you to phone them ????? If Meta Bank does not resolve this in a timely and satisfactory manner for you, please contact the place where you first purchased the card to ask for their assistance.

Is there not another way that you can find to pay your bills? These answers may be available at your local library or your state Attorney General’s Office. Another place to at least ask might be at your county extension office for ideas of other ways to pay that does not involve using Meta Bank.

I have seen Meta Bank’s publicity. Please don’t feel embarrassed. Meta Bank has studied all of us and targeted all of us. We are all very vulnerable.

Then, I want you to write a letter and mail it by US Mail to each of the following people:
The Office of Thrift Supervision in Washington, DC [sorry you will have to verify the address on line, but do complain to them)
The US Attorney General and to the Attorney General of your own state and perhaps the State of Iowa since MetaBank is headquartered in Iowa
Your local newspaper, write a letter to the editor
Write to your state Senator and Legislator asking for tighter laws

Please speak up on behalf of all of us. Thank you for helping the rest of us so that no one else has to experience what you experienced. I have read this same complaint from other Meta Bank customers. I am not from Meta Bank nor do I represent Meta Bank. I too found them very difficult to reach by phone and on line. In the future only deal with a locally owned and operated bank where you can walk into the bank to add more money on to a debit card.

METABANK Customer #21:

“1.”After being put on hold on and off for an hour and a half, and transferred around, I was eventually told that effective the day before my transfer was complete that and deposits made while a loan was out was subject to be taken by iAdvance immediately.” Meta Bank frequently puts customers on hold and transfers them to other people. This is a studied practice in how to get the upper hand in a deal or in dealing with customers. Some Meta Bank customers have complained of being hung up on and of having to spend a full day on the phone to get anything done.
2. “I was told that it was a mistake and they would fix it.” Then from what I am reading, Meta Bank made the mistake, but somehow you were still bearing the brunt of the burden from the problems caused by the mistake they made. The real issue isn’t who made the problem, but that Meta Bank didn’t make it right in a timely manner for you as their customer.
3. “When I complained that they had left me with 33 dollars to live on for over a week, they replied that I could borrow another on the line of credit I had accrued with them taking my deposit and pay back a $15.00 premium on top of the funds if I chose to borrow more.” So Meta Bank profited from your association with them by devious means that did not benefit both of you. Had you known this ahead of time, you would never have done business with them.
4. “This is outright theft. These people are horrible and I am closing my account. Stay far away from MetaBank! They’ll rob you blind.” You recognize that you have been scammed. The best thing to do is get out from dealing with Meta Bank. You want to warn everyone so they will be protected from having happen to them what happened to you.
Please note: So far, you are telling me about my experience with MetaBank. Your details are slightly different, but the major components and how Meta Bank treats their customers is identical to the way I was treated by Meta Bank.

Our response was: Please contact the Office of Thrift Supervision, Your Attorney General in your state, the US Attorney General, the FBI, your state and US Senator and Representative and send a letter to your local newspaper. We need better bank regulations that will protect the consumer from predatory bank practices. We need clear information and real control over our own money. Meta Bank and banks like it are not friends to the American people.

Our Realizations:
“I realized that Meta Bank was lying to me and I wondered why. This prompted me to seek further answers and to ask more questions. Then I question why any loans were ever given to Boesen. Meta Bank went after Boesen’s estate, all of it, and Boesen’s widow had to petition the court for a year’s worth of living expenses.” ( Since the original grab for Boesen’s estate, METABANK has taken Mrs. Boesen to court repeatedly.) [ Meta Bank lied to me too.]

“Then I question why Pickhinkle’s actions were never picked up by an internal audit inside of Meta Bank during the 15 years Meta Bank says that she operated as an embezzler. What were her supervisors doing during that time period? What are Meta Bank’s investor’s Board of Directors doing to protect their investors assets?” [ I question this too.]

“I question why Meta Bank sent a recent hire to talk to the media about an international event, an assassination that could conceivably make the dead man’s family and friends very angry and be traced back to the USA, that was committed in a Dubai Hotel room by assassins using prepaid bank cards, purchased at Payoneer? Payoneer, an affiliate of Meta Bank, on their website indicates they have the world’s best equipment for detecting false identification papers. However, Meta Bank claims they are innocent and not involved with this assassination since the perpetrators used false identifications to buy the prepaid bank cards. One man in the world was denied a fair trial. How will his family and friends respond? How would your family and friends respond?” [ I wonder why too?]

“Then, I realized that Meta Bank had put up a huge smoke screen just to hold my own money away from and to use my money interest free.” [ This happened to me too.]

We realized then that “This is their scam. This is what Meta Bank had told Pickhinkle to do.
This is why I think that every possible organization should be looking into Meta Bank too.”

“Meta Bank may be into far more than what any of us realize.”

“Any one who is in elected office should be very wary of taking funds from Meta Bank or from the Prepaid Bank Card Association which was formed by Meta Bank so that they could make donations to candidates.”

“Yes, everyone should stay away from Meta Bank, every one in every capacity should stay far away from Meta Bank. Meta Bank will be the ruin of any one from our past experience.” [ We felt betrayed by META BANK]

METABANK Customer #22: “I have a few complaints again Meta Bank and IAdvance. I would like to know who to send them to, so that I can get some help, does anyone know?”

METABANK CUSTOMER #23: “I would strongly urge anyone not to use a MetaBank card. In my case, I used everywherepay.com.”

“That let me use my card for about a week after I loaded $200 on it. Then all of a sudden, they put a hold on my card when it got down to a $50 balance. Even though I have sent them 2 forms of ID to prove my identity, given them the PIN number and my social security, they will NOT release the hold on my account. They have basically stolen the money that is left on my card, saying I cannot prove my identity because my driver’s license address is different than my address now. They wanted copies of my lease agreement, which I sent, then they stated they wanted it notarized (which costs $15 in Nevada where I live).”

“STAY AWAY FROM METABANK OR EVERYWHEREPAY.COM” [ Our advice is the same.]

METABANK CUSTOMER #24: “I recently took out an iAdvance loan to which MetaBank to pay bills that was suppose to be taken out from the Direct Deposit I have that goes in twice monthly for repayment. I tranferred $169.00 to my Metabank account from PayPal 2 days after taking aout the loan and when it posted to my account they took it instantly. This was a transfer, not a deposit and when I called to find out why they took my funds when they weren’t suppose to for another week I was told that it was a mistake and they would fix it. After being put on hold on and off for an hour and a half, and transferred around, I was eventually told that effective the day before my transfer was complete that and deposits made while a loan was out was subject to be taken by iAdvance immediately. I have had loand out with them before and transferred funds from PayPal in and had never had a problem. When I complained that they had left me with 33 dollars to live on for over a week, they replied that I could borrow another on the line of credit I had accrued with them taking my deposit and pay back a $15.00 premium on top of the funds if I chose to borrow more. This is outright theft. These people are horrible and I am closing my account. Stay far away from MetaBank! They’ll rob you blind.”

METABANK Customer#25, our response: “You are being silly or acting like you are a representative of META Bank. Which is it???

“Have you read the fine print on any of their products? META Bank retains the right to change the rules at anytime without notice to their customers, and they actually do that in practice. I have researched this bank in particular and they are causing misery everywhere for many people by pushing the blame back off onto the customers instead of correcting the problem. We are in an economic downturn. Potential customers should be warned.”

“In each case, Meta Bank served as the arbitrator and declared themselves innocent, but they had put themselves in full control of the customer’s money. I believe that your last comment may actually indicate who you are since you wish to stop free speech and have resorted to a form of name calling and have attempted to act as an impediment to free speech.”

“You are perfectly well entitled to continue to bank at Meta Bank now that you know that Meta Bank is seeking out people who cannot get credit anywhere else and that Meta Bank prides itself on seeking out the underbanked, which translates to the most financially vulnerable and economically fragile people in our society who they know will default on any kind of loan so they can rationalize charging them higher interest rates and fees.”

“This is predatory banking practices and you have been warned of that fact, that is if you are actually a Meta Bank customer and not a Meta Bank representative.” If you know that you are dealing with a bank that uses predatory practices and you still wish to bank with them that is free choice. Other people have ended up banking at METABANK by default or through false publicity. They should have been warned first before they entered into an agreement with METABANK.”

Each person should have the right to make educated and informed decisions

“I see you pushing blame back onto us in your note using many capital letters for the words: people, terms, conditions, so, hate, all you need to know, read, hate, csr, dog, bite, provoke. This is what META Bank does. Meta Bank is solely into making money for themselves. They do not care about their customers nor their customers’ lives.
If you were actually a Meta Bank representative, you would be saying the exact same kinds of things.”

“And I do read the content of any cereal box before buying it, by the way.
I have been studying Meta Bank for over a year now, and how they have treated many people and under the many names by which they offer their products, but it is always the same product with a new gimmick. Your profile image and the way you have phrased your note indicates to me that you are from Meta Bank. “ [ We simply do not wish to deal with any organization that acts like METABANK or who finds that kind of customer treatment to be acceptable. Rudeness never is a good way to start a conversation.]

What is posted on this blog site comes from our real experiences with METABANK.

We wish to alert other consumers so they don’t have to be scammed as well by METABANK.

Conclusion:

Anyone who acts like METABANK may as well be METABANK. Many people have encountered a problem by using METABANK.

This blog site has been established to find solutions and to put an end to the “Blame Game” by METABANK and/or anyone else.

“In less than one second, Results of 62,100 for Meta Bank complaints (0.31 seconds) appeared… That is how serious the complaints are about Meta Bank’s practices. That is what all this list is really saying. Meta Bank is doing serious damage to the people of America and the world for their own greed.”

“Meta Bank needs to be stopped!”

    • We wish that tax refunds were paid out differently. What if you could have gone someplace and been given cash instead?

The prepaid card has been a big problem for so many people that we need to bring this to the attention of all of our elected officials. We also need you to be sure to vote.

METABANK lied to us, and it sounds like they also lied to you. May this never happen again to another person.

I have been using upside card for 2 years now and within those two years meta bank has stolen almost $1000 from me. They claim it as a reversal and then drop it off the account but never pay it back. Then claim they did. I’m taking it to my attorney because I am tired of there bs

    • Meta Bank’s CEO has a law degree so he acts as their in house counsel. Everything that METABANK does is barely within the law. They lied to us over and over again. METABANK pushed, always tries to push blame off onto their customers as METABANK does their routine scam of the hard working public. METABANK is basically what has traditionally been known as “a loan shark”… You will find that hiring an attorney, although it sounds like the proper course of action to all of us because METABANK is nothing but a scam operation designed to take advantage of their customer base.

Find out what hiring an attorney would cost you and ask that attorney how likely you would be to prevail against METABANK in any significant way. Follow the advice of a reputable attorney.

      However…..

The best advice we can give you is to immediately and forever sever all ties to METABANK. That is DO NOT DO BUSINESS IN ANY WAY WITH META BANK ANYMORE!!!!!!!! Cut your losses and run away as fast as you can.

METABANK doesn’t seek to give customer satisfaction in anyway. METABANK changes the rules while retaining the right to do so without giving any warning to you as their customer. METABANK believes that they can treat you as a lesser being because they operate as a “Thrift Bank” – it appears that META BANK helped to create all of the guidelines ( and that they paid huge lobbyist fees so that their prepaid cards could be sold just about everywhere now… META BANK, using various names, brags that they are the largest processor of prepaid bank cards. We believe them in that one instance.

If you believe that you have followed every channel possible to contact METABANK to ask METABANK to correct the problem and METABANK hasn’t, please contact Tyler Haahr at META BANK in Storm Lake, Iowa. He is the Executive CEO of META BANK and their own in house legal counsel. Ask Tyler Haahr to correct the problem you have encountered.

We have long believed that either there is inadequate in house supervision of bank practices or that poor bank practices at METABANK actually happen by design coming from specific directives high up in their company, perhaps even with Tyler Haahr, himself.

If Tyler Haahr fails to correct the situation immediately, say within 30 days or less… what about within a week after receiving your letter sent by US Mail with proof of delivery, then close out any or all connections with METABANK. METABANK needs the use, full access and full control of the money from many customers. METABANK isn’t designed to serve customers and their needs; METABANK simply is designed to get rich, and then even richer, quick, really quick. METABANK needs customers so that METABANK can use them. To get the customer to sign up, METABANK promises, implied promises a real solution, but in reality, METABANK is only self-serving.

We have found that METABANK offers the same exact prepaid card deal over and over again, but using a different name for the product as if the product is new and improved. There is nothing new about the scam they do. METABANK needs your money on their prepaid card because it is an interest free loan to the bank and especially to the METABANK CEOs. Take your money and get away from dealing with METABANK in any way. META BANK appears to actively pursue and entice corporate partners who will promote the METABANK product.

These corporate partners may initially receive a perk in their income, but in the long term, METABANK will destroy that corporate partner’s customer base.

We urge you to cut your losses as quickly as possible. Our experience was so awful with METABANK that we cannot see METABANK properly correcting any customer complaint you make. It has been METABANK’s pattern to create misery for their customer base… Yes this is economic servitude, as in being a form of slave labor. You are supposed to work full time, keep getting a run around (and lied to over and over again without getting your problem solved) from METABANK while as their customer you make the CEOs of METABANK outrageously rich.

I suggest that you will find more satisfaction by bringing this problem to the attention of your local media and all of your elected officials. You also need to bring this problem to the attention of the agency that sold you this METABANK product because usually that corporate partner has been wined and dined just to get them to sell the same old piece of crap that METABANK peddles. The corporate partner, who sells the METABANK’s latest prepaid card gimmick is also a victim just like you are as a METABANK customer.

The best result that we can accomplish is for us to protect the next potential victim of METABANK. Please help to educate everyone you know that the METABANK product is a scam.
